2008 Team One West Honorable Mentions

Chris Armstead | LHP | 5'11/190 | L/L | Kelso HS - Kelso, WA | 2009

Chris has a athletic body that shows some projection as it continues to physically mature. He is a two way player on the mound and in the outfield. He currently projects best on the mound but he can swing the stick. At the plate, he displays plus bat speed and consistently shows the ability to find the barrel. He has power, especially to the pull side. On the mound, Chris shows some arm strength as he topped out at 87 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball is near above average showing a 2/8 shape with tight spin and late bite. He shows a feel for his change up and has plus, plus command of all his pitches. Chris struck out 8 of the 15 hitters he faced at the event. He will catch the eyes of the scouts with his abilities on the mound from the left side.

Ryan Comford | 3B/SS | 5'11/165 | R/R | Saguaro HS - Scottsdale, AZ | 2010
Ryan has really improved his hitting grades since the last time the we saw him. His hitting grades are now well above average  with outstanding power. Bat speed is a plus and he consistently shows the ability to  find the barrel. He drove a ball 410 feet over the center field wall. There is more pop in his swing if Ryan learns to transfer weight from his load into a firm front side. He will hit at the next level. Arm strength is solid average, displaying a quick arm action with carry across the diamond. Glove action is soft, sure in making all the plays. He shows some range with loose athletic actions through the fielding process. Ryan is young 2010 graduate with a huge upside if he continues to develop. He will catch the eyes of the college coaches over the next two years.

Scott Harkin | SS/RHP | 6'2/180 | R/R | Casa Grande HS- Santa Rosa, CA | 2009
Scott shows as a two way player at SS and on the mound. He currently projects best at SS where shows near above average ability. Arm strength is solid showing carry across the diamond. Foot speed is solid as he moves well laterally. He does need to be more aggressive with his feet in coming to get ground balls in the infield, playing through with his hands and feet. Fielding actions are currently more suited for 3B at present time. At the plate is where Harking shows best. He has plus bat and does a nice job of keeping his hands inside the baseball utilizing all fields. He maintains balance and keeps the barrel through the baseball at the point of contact. Power is outstanding as he was hitting 2 irons in the gaps. He has a solid feel for the barrel and the baseball explodes off his bat. On the mound, Scott works on a strong down hill plane. His fast ball is somewhat flat and straight. Breaking ball is an above average pitch showing a 12/6 shape with good downward action. He struck out 5 of the 10 hitters he faced. He is more suited for a relief type guy at the next level. Harkin will draw a lot of interest from the college coaches with his abilities, especially at the plate.

Michael Hoo | 2B/SS | 5'11/185 | R/R | St. Francis HS - Cupertino, CA | 2009
Michael is an outstanding defensive middle infielder. Foot speed is above average as indicated by his 7.03 60 time. He utilizes his quick, athletic feet in coming to get the baseball, playing through. Arm strength is well above average displaying life and carry across the diamond. He does a great job of getting rid of the baseball quickly. His arm and fielding actions are smooth and easy. He displays a plus, plus backhand. At the plate, Hoo shows near above average ability. He has quick hands and does a nice job of keeping hands inside the baseball utilizing all fields. Power numbers are above average as he utilizes his lower half well through his swing. The baseball jumps off his bat when centered. Michael will get a ton of looks from the college coaches with his defensive abilities in the middle of the infield.

Peter Hoyt | OF | 5'10/165 | R/R | Capistrano Valley HS - Mission Viejo, CA | 2009

Peter has an athletic looking body with a ton of athletic actions in it. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 6.91 60 times. He utilizes his quick feet in tracking down balls in the outfield showing solid range. Arm strength is well above average displaying lots of life and carry on his throws. He has proper footwork and gets rid of the baseball with all his throws on a line. He displays well above average ability in the outfield. At the plate, Hoyt shows above average skills. He does a nice job of keeping his hands inside and through the baseball. He shows a feel for the barrel with plus bat speed. Power numbers will increase as he learns to transfer the weight into a firm front through his lower half. Peter plays hard and will get some looks from the scouts.

Tyler Huffer | RHP/3B | 6'2/175 | R/R | Kingman HS - Kingman, AZ | 2009

Tyler continues to show improvement in his abilities. He shows as a two way player on the mound and at 3B. He currently projects best on the mound where he has the makings to be a special arm. Arm strength is there as indicated by him topping out at 88 mph. Breaking pitch is a quality pitch that will get hitters of all levels out. His 2 seam fast ball cuts and runs away from righties. Command is outstanding of all his pitches and he shows a great feel for the mound. Tyler will draw a ton of interest from the college coaches when he is on the mound.

Connor Joe | SS/2B | 5'10/170 | R/R | Poway HS - Poway, CA | 2011
Conner has a ton of potential ability for the next level. He has improved his baseball tools since the last time that we saw him. Foot speed has improved but he needs to continue to work to improve in order to play in the middle of the infield at the next level, currently more suited for 3B. Arm strength is above average displaying life and carry across the diamond. Glove action is soft and sure. He does need to be more aggressive with his feet in coming to get and playing through the baseball with his feet. At the plate is where Joe really shines. Hitting skills are well above average as he sits in and displays plus, plus bat speed. He shows a feel for the barrel and keeps the barrel through the baseball at the point of contact. Power is there as he drove a ball over the left field wall and hit a 2B off the centerfield wall. He will hit at the next level. Conner has a big upside and will draw a lot of attention to himself due to his baseball abilities. He is young 2011 graduate will a lot of time to continue to develop.

Karl Kobler | OF | 6'2/190 | R/R | Cardinal Newman HS - Sebastopol, CA | 2009
Karl has really improved his hitting grades and skills since the last time that we saw him. He presents a solid load and does a nice job of transferring weight through his lower half, generating serious raw power to all fields. He drove two balls deep into the gap opposite field. He shows a great feel for the barrel with the baseball jumping off his bat. He improved his foot speed as indicated by his 60 time now at 6.90. Karl will draw a ton of interest from the college coaches with his abilities.

Wade Morten | C/RHP | 6'1/205 | R/R | East Union HS - Manteca, CA | 2009

Wade was the top catching prospect at the event. He has really improved since the last time that we saw him. He has well above average arm strength displaying life, carry, and accuracy into the 2B bag. He will control the runner game as indicated by his consistent low pop time of 1.94. He is an above average receiver and shows some athletic ability in the blocking process, keeping all balls out front. At the plate, Morton continues to shine showing above average ability. He shows well above average power when he centers the baseball. If in need of a solid defensive catcher that can swing the bat, Wade may be the guy. He will get a lot of interest from the college coaches.

Max Russell | 1B/3B | 6'3/200 | R/R | La Canada HS - La Canada, CA | 2009
Max is a tall imposing player with above average hitting ability.  At the plate, Max displays serious power and quickness.  The ball flies off the bat and he can drive it to all fields.  He can even get more power once he uses more of his hips and backside during the swing.  His got a great stroke.  Defensively, Max moves well at 1B with solid foot work and soft hands.  He stays down well and plays through the ball.  A good long toss program will help increase arm strength, but once coaches see him hit, they will forget about his arm.  Overall, Max can play at the next level and has the potential to be very successful.

Jonathan Sigado | SS/RHP |5'11/185 | R/R | South Salem HS - Salem, OR | 2009

Jonathan shows as a two way player on the mound and at SS but currently only projects in the infield at the next level. He has a solid athletic looking body with loose, easy actions. Foot speed is solid average and plays quicker then 60 time indicates at 7.23. Feet are active and aggressive in coming to get and playing through. Arm strength is solid and shows life when he stays on top. At the plate is where Sigado shines. He shows above average ability and power. He sits in well and shows a feel for the barrel. He displays some strength in his swing as the baseball jumps off his bat when centered. Jonathan will draw attention to from the scouts due to his abilities in the infield and at the plate.
