2008 Team One West Top Ten

1. Todd Glaesmann | OF | 6'4/200 | R/R | Waco-Midway HS - Waco, TX | 2009
Todd is a tall athletic player with speed and defensive skills.  In the OF, shows great range and angles to the ball.  Gets behind fly ball and plays through nicely.  Could get a little better of a jump off the bat, but has the speed to make up for it.  Arm is well above average (reaching 90 mph).  Swing is quick and level.  Uses the entire field nicely.  Uses the lower half well.  Can get more out of swing with a little work.  Overall, Todd is a very projectable player and should have coaches drooling over him over the next two seasons.

2. Breck Ashdown | 1B/RHP | 6'4/210 | L/R | Catalina Foothills HS - Tucson, AZ | 2009
Breck is a tall strong pitcher that can dominate hitters with his sinking FB in the mid to upper 80’s that has also been clocked in the 90’s.  He possesses proper arm action that allows his arm to work free and clear from the rest of his delivery.  His CH fades away from left-handed hitters and he shows a good feel for the deceptive pitch.  Breck’s mechanics are above average at the point and as he learns to utilize his lower half he should become even more dominate.  He shows the ability to control the pace of the game as well as the location as he moves pitches in and out of the plate.  Overall, Breck can play two positions on the field, but is more suited for the mound due to his size and pitching ability.  Still young, Breck has enormous upside.

3. Cole Frenzel | 3B/SS | 6'2/210 | L/R | Dickinson HS - Dickson, ND | 2009
Cole continues to improve and impress with his bat. Hitting ability is now outstanding and he shows superior power at the plate. He drove a ball deep over left field wall in a game and dazzled everyone with his pop during BP. He shows a tremendous feel for the barrel. Fielding ability has also improved and is now above average. He displays solid footwork with soft, sure hands. Actions are still suited best for 3B at the next level. Cole will definitely get a lot of looks from all the scouts over the next year.

4. Sam Selman | LHP | 6'2/160 | R/L | St. Andrew's Episcopal HS - Austin, TX | 2009
Sam continues to show a big upside on the mound. He shows a ton of ability and will get some looks from the professional scouts. His cutter is a quality, quality pitch. He struck out 7 out of the 14 hitters he faced. He has a future on the mound in this game!

5. Julian Barzilli | SS/3B | 5'11/185 | R/R | Palisades Charter HS - Los Angeles, CA | 2009
Julian has the makings to be a special type player at the next level.  He has the tools to do it all in the infield and at the plate. Arm strength is superior through a loose, easy arm action. His throws display life and carry across the diamond. His hands and glove actions are sure, soft, and solid in making all the plays. Back hand is sure. Feet are aggressive in coming to get and playing through the baseball. Foot speed is solid average as indicated by his 60 time at 7.10. His actions are smooth and easy showing no effort through the fielding process. At the plate, Barzilli continues to shine displaying plus bat speed, keeping the barrel through the baseball at the point of contact. He has some strength to his swing and will get the ball out of the yard to the pull side. Julian will draw a ton of interest from all the scouts and has the makings to be a prospect in the infield.

6. Josh Dahl | OF/RHP | 6/180 | R/R | Deer Valley HS - Glendale, AZ | 2009
Josh is a two way player in the outfield and on the mound. He currently projects best on the mound where he shows pro arm strength as indicated by topping out at 92 mph with a comfort zone of 89. Breaking ball is an above average pitch displaying a 12/6 downward action with tight spin. He does need to develop a 3rd pitch for the next level. Command was also a question. In the outfield, Dahl shows outstanding foot speed as indicated by his 60 time at 6.90. He utilizes his quick, athletic feet in tracking down balls, showing great range. He definitely shows off his arm strength in the outfield. At the plate, he shows near average ability through a simple set up and approach. The baseball jumps off his bat when centered. With some work and polish at the plate, he will be OK at the next level. Josh will draw a ton of interest from all the scouts and if command comes around he could be a top prospect on the mound.

7. Josh Anderson | 1B/RHP | 5'11/210 | R/R | Poway HS - San Diego, CA | 2010
Josh continues to shine as both on the mound and at 1B. He has improved his hitting and power grades as well as his defensive ability at 1B. Arm strength is a plus tool displaying life and carry across the diamond. Anderson is an outstanding hitter that shows HR power as he drove a ball deep over left field fence. On the mound, his fast ball shows good arm side run with an above average breakeer. He did not throw his change up much but flashes potential. Josh will catch the eyes of a lot of scouts with his abilities.

8. Nico Lytle | RHP | 6'8/225 | R/R | Bishop Kelly HS - Boise, ID | 2009
Nico has the makings to be a special arm on the mound. He already has a pro body on the mound, standing at 6’8 with a solid frame. Arm strength is at pro level  as indicated by his topping out at 90 mph with a comfort zone of 88 mph. He fast ball has life  and he utilizes his plus body to work on a strong downhill plane. Slider is near above average displaying an 11/5 shape, tight spin, and late sharp break. Split finger is solid average showing some sink. Like to see him to develop a change up. Command is well above average with all his pitches and he showed the ability to be effectively wild when he needed to. Lytle has a big upside on the mound and shows professional ability and will get some looks from all the scouts.

9. Bryce Rutherford | RHP | 6'1/175 | R/R | Arcadia HS - Arcadia, CA | 2009
Bryce continues to show improved arm strength, now touching and sitting at 87 mph. Breaking ball is a quality pitch and gets better every time we see him. His command is outstanding of all his pitches. He struck out 8 out the 15 hitters he faced. Rutherford will get a lot of interest from the scouts with his abilities on the mound. He gets it done!

10. Bret DeRooy | LHP | 6/160 | L/L | Woodinville HS - Bothell, WA | 2009
Bret is a tall player with a smooth delivery and loose arm.  On the mound, Bret has a great feel for his off speed pitches with a tight  sharp breaking CB.  Everything is easy in his athletic delivery.  A long toss program can help to increase arm strength, but he has movement and control of all pitches.  He is still young and growing.  College coaches should stay with this talented young player.
