Honorable Mentions

Erick Baker | RHP/1B | 6'3/205 | R/R | Elizabethtown (PA) | 2008
ric displays a solid body with lots of projection on the mound. He throws on a good down hill plane and shows well above average arm strength on the mound, topping out at 88 and sat at 85-86. He pitched off his fast ball and showed outstanding command to both sides of the plate. Baker’s off speed pitches are above average, with his breaking ball having good 12/6 downward action. This young man should make an impact wherever he ends up.

Daniel Bowman | OF | 6'1/205 | R/L | Turner Ashby (VA) | 2008
Daniel displayed 3 outstanding tools at the event with his foot speed, arm strength and raw power at the plate. He ran a 6.55 60 yard dash, but has a RF arm with good life and carry. He showed the ability to drive the baseball in workout, needs to get more consistent in games with pitch selection. He should be an outstanding player at the collegiate level.

Jayce Boyd | 1B/3B | 6'2/170 | R/R | Tate (FL) | 2008
Jayce just missed out on the Top 10 of the showcase, and is a top not notch player. His fielding actions were clean and easy at both corner positions. His best tool is his ability at the plate. He is strong and does a nice job of keeping his hands inside and through the baseball at contact. The baseball jumps and travels off his bat when centered.  He can play both corner spots very well defensively and possibly a corner spot in the outfield with his arm strength. He will be a solid college player.

Zachary Briggs | C/1B | 5'10/215 | R/R | Richardson Pearce (TX) | 2008
Zachary is a player that you must watch play. He plays the game the way it is suppose to be played and plays it hard. He will be even better as he works to improve his athleticism and body type. He is solid behind the plate and will control the running game with his arm and feet. His best tool, arguably, may be his ability to produce quality at bat after quality at bat. Briggs also showed some pop in his approach. He truly shows a love for the game by the ways he approaches it. He can polish up the body!

Spencer Dickinson | OF | 5'9/155 | R/R | Benjamin School (FL) | 2008
Spencer was knocking on the door of the Top 10 prospects of the showcase. He has all the tools for the next level. He has outstanding foot speed in the outfield and displayed excellent arm strength with life and carry on his throws. He will hit at the next level and showed the ability to drive the baseball with gap power.  He can play center field at the next level, especially if foot speed continues to improve because the other tools are there.

Grant Dozar | SS/RHP | 5'11/170 | L/R | Morgan City (LA) | 2008
Grant is an exciting two-way player. He touched 89 mph and sat at 85-87 mph with a 11/5 (knee buckling) late breaker and a solid CH. Grant also displayed an outstanding slider with tight, sharp, and late break.  He has an easy arm and attacked the strike zone with all of his pitches. As good as he is on the mound; he may be a better position player. He showed fluid actions with efficient hands and a plus arm from SS. At the plate he showed a good approach with some pop. He could be that guy in college that puts the club ahead in the bottom of the eighth and then closes it out in the top of the 9th.

Luke Erickson | LHP | 6'2/190 | L/L | St. Christopher's (FL) | 2008
Luke projects on the mound with a big upside. He displays a plus body that is only going to get better.  When he works on a down hill plane, he will be tough to hit. His fast ball is well above average from the left side, topping at 87 mph and sat at 84-86. He needs to work to improve off speed stuff to possibly project as a starter. His breaking ball showed good spin, he just had the tendency to leave it up some. Once he learns to stay on top and a little more out front with it, it will be an above avg. CB. He can also swing the stick a little and showed a JD Drew type approach and swing path and possibly could play 1B at the next level.

Colby Fairfax | RHP | 6'5/175 | R/R | Riverview (FL) | 2008
Colby shows a huge upside on the mound with his quick arm action and command. He has plus arm strength topping out at 89, with a comfort zone of 86-88. He pitches off his fastball to both side of the plate and has a quality breaking ball with tight spin and good depth to mix in. He currently projects as a closer or possible set up guy, but if a change up (or other off speed pitch) is developed, he could become a top starter at the next level.

Gabriel Feldman | RHP/SS | 5'10/175 | R/R | Notre Dame Academy (VA) | 2008
Gabriel profiles best on the mound. He showed outstanding arm strength, topping out at 89 mph and sat at 86-88. He change up is his best off speed pitch with the same arm slot, speed, and action, which maintains the deception factor. His change had good sink with arm side run. He also showed well at SS, with his power at the plate also being a top strength. He could easily develop into a two way player at the next level.

Alex Garcia | OF/RHP | 5'11/180 | R/R | Captain Shreve (LA) | 2008
Alex showed the potential to be a two way player at the next level. He showed outstanding arm strength and defensive ability in the outfield. He showed good bat speed at the plate with a good path and extension. He is limited to a corner spot in the outfield due to foot speed. He also showed a lot of promise on the mound with his fast ball. Garcia displayed excellent command, but needs to develop more off speed pitches to be a starter at next level. He currently projects out of the bullpen.

Cody Johnson | SS/RHP | 5'11/180 | R/R | Riverview (FL) | 2008
Cody currently profiles and projects best on the mound for the collegiate level. He showed good arm strength with a 85-87 comfort range. His fast ball has good run, tail and he missed a lot of bats with excellent command of all pitches. He has two quality off speed pitches with his change up being his best one. He works fast and has great mound presence. He will be a guy you need to follow over the next year.

Kyle Madden | C/1B | 6'4/235 | R/R | Harrison (GA) | 2008
Kyle was one of the top catching prospects at the event. He displayed a lot of athletic ability behind the dish. He has a cannon for an arm with a quick release and transfer. He can throw and will control the running game at the next level. He received and blocked well also. He is a solid catcher that can hit as well with pop. He has an outstanding body with lots of athletic projection.

Eric Rice | RHP | 5'11/150 | R/R | Park Vista (FL) | 2008
Eric is  another arm with a ton of potential. He displayed a quick, loose and easy arm action. He has plus arm strength topping out at 89 mph with a comfort zone of 86-88. He has 3 off speed pitches with his slider being his best. He worked down with his FB, but tends to leave off speed up.  He bounced off the mound well and showed good athleticism while fielding his position. He should have success where ever he ends up at the next level.

Richie Rodriguez | SS | 5'10/150 | R/R | Christopher Columbus (FL) | 2008
Richie displayed excellent infield actions, as good as any player at the event. He showed outstanding arm strength and can throw across the diamond from any spot. He is an above average hitter that will get better with at bats. He is a quality middle INF that can flat out pick it.  Richie is fun to watch and should excel at the next level.

Ronnie Shaban | SS/RHP | 6'1/190 | L/R | Cosby (VA) | 2008
Ronnie is a solid two way player for the next level, but currently projects best on the mound. He has a strong, solid athletic body. He touched 90 mph on the mound with a comfort of 87-88. We have seen him come in and close games on the mound. He could develop into a starter with better off speed pitches. He has the mental make up to come in and close games.

Patrick Somers | LHP/1B | 6'1/205 | R/L | Chantilly (VA) | 2008
Patrick profiles best from the mound where he creates good plane on his FB and has a projectable LHP body. He topped at 84 mph, but was consistently 82-83. His curve ball is his out pitch with tight spin and 2 plane break. He displayed excellent command through a loose athletic arm action. He will get hitters out at the next level.

Blayne Weller | RHP | 6'4/220 | R/R | Key West (FL) | 2008
Blayne shows a great upside on the mound. He has a lot of projection both in his body and in his arm. He showed a loose arm action and works on a down hill plane. Weller has well above average arm strength topping out at 88mph and sat at 85-86. He also showed an above average breaking ball with late break. He will work both sides of the plate and is worthy of a following over the next year.

Chris Yates | RHP/1F | 6'3/180 | R/R | Chantilly (VA) | 2008
Chris takes the mound with good confidence and presence. He has an outstanding, strong looking body and utilizes it with his mound presence. He displayed outstanding arm strength, topping at 88 and sat at 85-87. His best pitch may be his change up. He maintains arm speed and has good fade and sink. His breaking ball is tight and sharp, but lacked command. He will be a quality arm at the next level.
