T1 South Top Ten

Jack Armstrong | RHP | 6'8/200 | R/R | Jupiter (FL) | 2008
Jack profiles best on the mound where he has an outstanding body on the mound, standing at 6’8. He utilizes his great body to throw on a good downhill plane. He displayed outstanding arm strength topping out at 89 mph, with a comfort zone of 86-88. He worked efficiently and shows excellent command, especially with his FB. Armstrong is aggressive with his approach and shows the ability to get in on right handed hitters. He showed only one off speed pitch, a breaking ball, that will only get better. He is a legitimate prospect on the mound.

Pablo Bermudez | OF | 5'11/175 | R/R | Miami Springs (FL) | 2008
Pablo showed an excellent approach at the plate, with awesome zone recognition and the ability to center the baseball consistently. He displayed outstanding power and consistently drove balls in the gaps.  His body is similar to that of Trot Nixon, with a strong & athletic look. He displayed outstanding foot speed at 6.69, which translated into running balls down in the outfield and an aggressive approach on the bath paths.  It will be exciting to see the rest of this young talent’s career unfold. He has a huge ceiling.

Jamie Blackwell | SS | 6'1/180 | R/R | Forest Park (VA) | 2008
Jamie is a slender, athletic SS with a cannon for an arm. He showed steady hands, efficient footwork, and a quick release from SS. At the plate he showed a quiet approach with a level stroke and excellent extension. He really had a short to long swing path with good extension through the baseball. Jamie displayed outstanding power at the plate, consistently showing gap to gap power at the plate. He showed all the tools to be a top middle infielder at the next level.

Ryan Crosby | RHP/3B | 5'11/180 | R/R | Notre Dame Academy (VA) | 2008
Ryan displayed an outstanding fast ball at the event, topping out at 88 mph with a comfort of 85-87. Not only did his fast ball have outstanding velocity, but he had great movement with sink and tail. He also showed two outstanding off speed pitches. His breaking ball has tight spin, late break with solid downward action. His change up is enough to keep hitters off balance. He showed plus command and is not afraid to pitch inside with his fast ball. He will be a quality arm at the college level with a big upside as a starter.

Taylor Dugas | OF | 5'9/170 | L/L | Teurlings Catholic (LA) | 2008
Taylor was fun to watch, not only in the outfield, where he ran just about every ball down, but also at the plate where he displays a solid approach into a swing path that drives the baseball. He utilizes his well above average foot speed to take proper routes and angles in tracking balls in the outfield. At the plate, he sprayed the baseball to all fields with good power. He will be a fun and exciting player to watch over the next year. He can get in done, both offensively and defensively.

Jesse Fernandez | OF | 6/205 | R/R | Christopher Columbus (FL) | 2008
Jesse currently has a pro arm in the outfield. His throws have tremendous life and carry into the target. He hosed a guy from deep right field corner, making it look easy. He also displayed outstanding defensive ability in the outfield. Not only can he catch and throw, but he can hit as well with power. He drove one ball deep over the leftfield wall and simply exudes confidence at the plate. His foot speed at present will limit him to RF at the next level where he should excel.

Clay Kollenbaum | RHP/3B | 6'5/210 | L/R | Dunedin (FL) | 2008
Clay possess an outstanding pitching body on the mound. He uses his plus body to work on a strong downhill plane. He displayed outstanding arm strength touching 90 mph. He also displayed 3 quality off speed pitches with his slider having sharp, late bite. He showed well above average command with all pitches. He also displayed his athletic ability in fielding his position on the mound.  Clay also showed a big upside at the plate through outstanding bat speed and consistently showed the ability to drive the baseball. He could be a legitimate player the next level at 1B or 3B, but is a prospect on the mound right now.

Raph Rhymes | MIF | 5'11/165 | S/R | Nevilla (LA) | 2008
Raph put on a show at the plate with several extra base hits. His outs were even squared up on the barrel. A quality hitter that will be more suited for 2B at the college level. He has quick hands and plays aggressively with his feet. He is a solid defensive infielder and his bat will keep him in the lineup everyday. He is a fun to watch as he plays hard and makes all the routine plays.

William Scott | OF | 6/175 | R/R | Kell (GA) | 2008
William may have been the best tool player at the showcase. His athletic ability is endless. He showed outstanding arm strength from the outfield with on line carry into his target, an Andruw Jones type arm. He takes proper routes and angles in the outfield and reads balls well off the bat. He can cover some ground in the outfield and foot speed played much better then 60 time indicates. He is an aggressive base runner that can swipe a bag when needed. He also showed well at the plate through a very solid approach. His hands are quick and he will use the entire field. He will be fun to follow over the next several years.

Cody Stiles | RHP/OF | 6'1/175 | R/R | JP Teravella (FL) | 2009
Cody is the only 2009 in the Top 10. With his arm and body type he has an enormously high ceiling. He displayed an outstanding arm in the outfield and the ability to run balls down. He has a short compact swing with the ball jumping off the bat. He drove two balls deep into gaps after fighting off several pitches. Cody’s best days down the road may be on the mound where he displayed outstanding (pro) arm strength, touching 91 mph, with a 88 – 89 comfort range. His delivery is clean and easy with ball exploding out of his hand. He also showed to quality off speed pitches with his slider being outstanding. A lot of eyes will be on this young man over the next two years and it be fun to watch him further develop.
