Top 2011 Graduates

Buchanan, Hawtin | RHP | 6’8/240 | Biloxi (MS) HS | 2011
Hawtin has a mature frame and a pro pitcher body, standing 6’8’’ and weighing 240 lbs.  He utilizes his great body to throw his fast ball on a downhill plane that ranges from 86-90 MPH.  Hawtin has a quick, fluid delivery, good glove side lead, and a smooth arm action.  Buchanan has excellent mound presence, and a sharp 11-5 breaking ball with good potential.  Hawtin's stock on the mound can rise even higher if he can improve his change-up.

Bush, Grant | LHP | 6’4/185 | Virgil Grissom (AL) HS | 2011
Grant is a lean, athletic, projectable LHP with a fast ball the touches 89 MPH.  He throws comfortably in the 86-88 MPH range, and his ball has a lot of arm side run.  Grant is a quality lefty who hides the ball well and delivers it low in the zone.  He has a long / loose arm action, he can work both sides of the plate, and he flat out misses bats.

Camp, Justin | RHP/1B | 6’1/225 | Austin (AL) HS | 2011
Justin is a thick, strong, 2-way player who projects better on the hill than at 1B.  Camp's fast ball touches 90 MPH and has late / hard arm side run.  He has a quick, loose arm action, a balanced approach, and the ball explodes out of his hand.  Justin is a power type Pitcher that also a sharp, tight 10-4 curve with late break.  If Justin can work on a downhill plane, and keeps his eyes to his target, mound effectiveness can get even better.  Defensively at 1B, Justin has good footwork and soft, playable hands.  He has a plus arm with plenty of life and carry to his target.  At the plate, Camp is a strong hitter with good balance and bat speed.  He has a good idea, he centers the ball very well, and has pop in his bat.  A looser grip and shorter stroke could help improve offensive abilities.

Castellano, Connor | 2B/3B | 6’0/180 | Evangel Christian Academy (LA) HS | 2011
Connor is a solid, athletic, middle INF with loads of talent.  He runs a 6.92 60-yard dash and can flat out rake.  Defensively, Connor has very quick feet, is aggressive to the ball, and he fields it out in front of his body.  Castellano has sure / soft hands and can only get better with some work on his back hand.  At the plate, Connor is an aggressive hitter with a balanced approach, quick hands, and raw strength.  He has excellent bat speed, he squares the ball up on the barrel, and the ball explodes off of his bat.  Castellano is a solid defensive infielder, and his bat will keep him in the lineup everyday.

Crescentini, Marcus | RHP | 6’4/195 | Wesley Chapel (FL) HS | 2011
Marcus showed an outstanding fast ball at the event topping out at 91 MPH.  He comfortably throws in the 86 to 88 MPH range, and delivers the ball with a simple, polished delivery.  Marcus has a live arm action, plus arm strength, and the ability to get even better on the hill.  He has good feel for his change-up, which has A/S run and nice sink.  Mound effectiveness can get even better with work on his curve ball and improved overall command.  Marcus has all the tools to be and impact player at the next level.

Crowe, John David | C/3B | 6’0/205 | Oak Mountain (AL) HS | 2011
John David is a stud behind the plate with a strong, athletic body.  He has a good base, he blocks and receives very well, and has a rocket for an arm.  The ball comes out of his hand live, online, and with carry to 2nd base.  Crowe's pop times range from 2.09 to 2.15.  Pop times can be lowered if John David can avoid standing straight up, and get more body involved.  Offensively, Crowe has an explosive bat with excellent bat speed and a short swing path.  His swing is level, he can work the ball gap to gap, and he centers the ball well on the barrel.  John David is a solid prospect with room to get even better.

Davis, Rookie | RHP/1B | 6’5/220 | Dixon (NC) HS | 2011
Rookie a big, strong, 2-way player that can get it done on the mound, at 1st Base, and at the plate.  He is truly the whole package.  Rookie has a great Pitcher build and a live fast ball topping out at 89 MPH.  He has excellent mound presence, he works in good rhythm, and has a quick / loose arm action.  Davis has a sharp, tight curve ball with late break, and a deceptive change with good A/S run.  He has plus command of his pitches and is not afraid to pitch inside.  At 1B, Rookie has free, athletic actions and good footwork.  He has soft / playable hands and an easy arm action with plenty of carry to his target.  Rookie is a strong, aggressive hitter with an athletic set-up.  He has very quick / strong hands and he centers the ball well on the barrel.  Davis had 3 hits at the event, all up the middle.  Rookie will be a legitimate player at the next level at both positions.

Ellis. Chris | RHP | 6’5/195 | Spain Park (AL) HS | 2011
Chris is a tall, slender, RHP with a very Projectable body.  He showed an outstanding fast ball at the workout, topping out at 90 MPH with a comfort of 86-88.  Ellis has a great Pitchers build, a loose / easy arm action, and a balanced delivery.  His slider ranges from 73-76 MPH, with tight spin and short break.  Chris attacks hitters with sneaky fast pitches and shows excellent mound presence.  Chris is an impact player on the hill with a bright future.

Fitts, Trevor | RHP | 6’2/185 | Pelham (AL) HS | 2011
Trevor displayed an outstanding fast ball at the event, topping out at 89 MPH with a comfort of 86-88.  Not only did he display a great fast ball, he also has 2 quality off-speed pitches.  Fitts has a tight, 11-5 shape curve ball, and a quality change-up with A/S run.  He has a live, quick arm, and he attacks hitters with 1st pitch strikes.  Trevor has a loose arm action, he gets great extension on his pitches, and his delivery is inline and on-time.  Fitts will be a quality arm at the college level with a big upside as a starter.

Gant, John | RHP | 6’4/175 | Wiregrass Ranch (FL) HS | 2011
John is a tall, thin, talented RHP, with a very Projectable body.  Gant throws his fast ball in the 86-89 MPH range on a downhill plane with life.  He has a quick / live arm, a polished / repeatable delivery.  Gant has quality off-speed pitches, he changes speeds well, and he can throw them all for strikes.  John is an aggressive Pitcher with a big upside.  He is a legitimate prospect on the mound.

Greiner, Grayson | C/1B | 6’6/205 | Blythewood (SC) HS | 2011
Grayson is a big, solid, Catcher with a Pro Body.  He is 6'6", weighs 205 lbs, and can get the ball to 2nd base as quick as 1.90.  Greiner has soft / relaxed hands, quick / athletic actions, and a strong / accurate arm.  Grayson has excellent instincts behind the plate and will be an impact player at the next level.  Offensively, Grayson is an aggressive hitter with a simple set-up and quick / strong hands.  He centers the ball well on the barrel, he gets great extension, and the ball explodes off of his bat.  Grayson also runs well for being a big Catcher, and was timed in the 60 at 7.20.

Haffner, Burke | OF | 6’3/200 | Tuscaloosa County (AL) HS | 2011
Burke is a solid, strong, fast OF who can really play.  He was timed at 6.87 in the 60-yard dash, and he makes plays look easy. Burke has quick feet, he takes proper angles to the ball, and he tracks the ball well.  He has a strong arm with life and carry to his target.  At the plate, Burke has quick hands, great bat speed, and a level swing.  He has a balanced approach, gets good extension, and the ball jumps off of his bat.  Burke will be a fun and and exciting player to watch over the next year.  He can get it done both offensively and defensively!

Jenkins, Renaldo | 2B | 5’11/180 | Whitewater (GA) HS | 2011
Renaldo is a young, fast, exciting player with a bright future.  He runs a 6.7 60-yard dash and has quick actions in the INF.  Jenkins presents his glove well, has quick / light feet, and he can move well laterally.  Renaldo makes plays look easy, he can throw from different angles, and throws accurately with carry to his target.  Offensively, Renaldo has a simple approach, quick hands, and pop in his bat.  He has a balanced approach, plus bat speed, and is a terror on the bases.  Jenkins is a talented player, fun to watch, and showed all the tools to be a top middle infielder at the next level.

Keller, Jonathan | LHP/1B | 6’1/195 | Thompson (AL) HS | 2011
Jonathan is an athletic LHP with a solid Pitchers frame.  He is 6'1", 195 lbs, and delivers the ball with a 3/4 arm slot ranging from 84 to 88 MPH.  Keller has a great mound presence, he attacks hitters, and has plus arm strength.  He has 2 solid off-speed pitches, he works both sides of the plate, and he gets outs.  Keller has a good pick-off move and keeps runners that reach base honest.  If Jonathan can keep his eyes to his target, and get more extension on his pitches, already solid stuff can get even better.  Defensively at 1B, Jonathan has a good idea and sound actions.  He has an easy arm action, he makes plays, and has a fluid exchange.  Overall, Jonathan is a talented, young, Lefty who will be an impact Pitcher at the next level.

Laxer, Josh | RHP/INF | 6’1/180 | Madison Central (MS) HS | 2011
Laxer is a strong, thin, wiry athlete that currently projects better on the hill than in the INF.  Josh throws a fast ball ranging from 86 to 90 MPH that has A/S run.  He is an aggressive Pitcher with a live / loose arm and an on-time delivery.  He has quality off-speed pitches, he changes speeds very well, and can pitch to both sides of the plate.  Laxer has excellent mound presence and is a legitimate prospect.  In the INF, Josh has soft hands and good lateral movements.  He has a good idea, he can throw from different arm slots, and he makes things look easy.  Offensively, Laxer is an aggressive hitter with good strength and pop in his bat.  He centers the ball well on the barrel and with better use of his lower 1/2 strong offensive numbers can become even better.  Josh is a young, exciting player with a bright future.

Moore, Tyler | C/SS | 6’1/185 | Durham (LA) HS | 2011
Tyler is a strong, athletic Catcher who hits from the left side.  He has quick feet, soft hands and a good idea behind the plate.  Tyler's pop times are as low as 1.90, and comfortably sit in the 1.93 to 2.02 range.  Moore has a solid transfer and an accurate arm with life and carry to his target.  At the plate, Tyler has a rhythmic swing, good strength, and plus bat speed.  He has pop in his bat to the pull side, and with more lower 1/2, hitting and power can further improve.  Tyler showed all the tools to be an impact player at the next level.

Reeves, John Clay | C | 6’0/195 | Neville (LA) HS | 2011
Reeves is a solid, strong, Catcher who can really play.  He has a clean glove, sure / soft hands, and a good transfer.  John Clay blocks and receives the ball very well, and shows quick feet defensively.  Reeves has a quick arm action with life and carry to his target.  His pop times range from 2.03 to 2.13.  If John Clay can smooth out the hitch in his arm action, pop times can be lowered into the 1.9 range.  At the plate, Reeves has a good idea, solid load, and excellent bat speed.  He has good feel for the barrel, he centers the ball well, and he can flat out rake.  Reeves is a fun player to watch both offensively and defensively.

Robbins, Mason | OF | 6’1/200 | George County (MS) HS | 2011
Mason is an athletic, lefty OF with great skills and baseball instincts.  He is quick in the OF, and was clocked at 6.87 in the 60-yard dash.  Mason goes back on the ball aggressively, he gets behind it well, and he throws accurately with carry and life to his target.  His radar velocity has been clocked at 87 MPH.  Robbins has sure hands and a long / loose arm action.  At the plate, Mason has a very good set-up and a solid approach.  He has excellent bat speed, he centers the ball well, and can hit missiles into the gap.  The ball flat out explodes off of his bat and he gets down the line quickly from the left side.  Robbins is an exciting young player with a high ceiling.

Rodriguez, Ivan | OF | 6’2/160 | Chaminade Madonna (FL) HS | 2011
Ivan is an athletic OF with an absolute rocket for an arm.  Defensively, Ivan has quick, athletic actions and he reads the ball off the bat well.  He takes good angles to the baseball and fields the ball cleanly.  Rodriquez was clocked at 6.99 in the 60 yard dash.  Ivan has a Pro arm and he delivers the ball accurately to his target with plus life and great carry.  Defense abilities can improve with more aggressiveness.  Offensively, Ivan has a quiet approach and free / loose hands.  He is a patient hitter with good leverage and proper extension through the baseball.  Ivan has plus bat speed, and he centers it well on the barrel.  Rodriquez will be a fun player to watch as he approaches his Senior year.

Turnbull, Spencer | RHP/1B | 6’3/210 | Madison Central (MS) HS | 2011
Spencer is a solidly built, athletic player with very good skills at 1B and on the mound.  Defensively, Turnbull has athletic actions, quick feet, and is aggressive to the baseball.  He works through the ball exceptionally well, and throws accurately with life and carry to his target.  On the mound, Spencer has a great Pitchers build and a fast ball ranging from 84-88 MPH.  He delivers the ball from a high 3/4 arm slot and the ball has plenty of life to it.  Turnbull has easy, effortless actions, an on time delivery, and he keeps his eyes to his target well.  Spencer works in good tempo, he controls both sides of the plate, and he has a quality 11-5 curve with tight spin.  At the plate, Spencer is an aggressive hitter with loads of power.  He has excellent bat speed, he centers the ball very well, and the ball explodes off of his bat.  Turnbull has a short / compact swing and he can really work the ball gap to gap.  He is an exciting young player with a great upside.
