Top 2012's
Damron, Brad | SS | 6/185 | Cibola (NM) HS
Brad is a young, talented, switch hitting Shortstop with a bright future. Defensively, he has quick / active feet and is aggressive to the baseball. Brad has loose actions, playable hands, and a good idea. He fields the baseball cleanly, has a quick transfer, and he throws accurately to his target. Brad can improve defensively if he can take better angles to the ball and improve his rhythm. At the plate, Brad is currently a better hitter from the right side. From both sides, he has a proper load, aggressive swing, and very good bat speed. Brad has a short stroke and can work the ball gap to gap. He can improve from the left side if he can drive the away pitch better. Brad is a player to follow as he only approaches his Junior year.
Flores, Justin | OF | 6'2/190 | Clovis West (CA) HS
Justin is a young, tall, lean, OF with solid baseball skills. He is a reliable OF who reads the ball well off the bat and makes plays. He has soft / sure hands, he works to get behind the ball well, and he gets good extension on his throws. Justin delivers the ball accurately with come carry to his target. If Justin can add arm strength and work to throw on a downhill plane, defensive grades can improve. Offensively, Justin has quick hands and good bat speed. He is direct to the ball, he gets proper extension, and the ball jumps off the barrel of his bat. Justin can work the ball gap to gap, and with a wider base and better lower 1/2 rotation, solid offensive numbers could get even better. Overall, Justin is a young, talented OF with a bright future.
Hutting, Eric | C/3B | 5'11/160 | Tesoro (CA) HS
Eric is a quick, athletic, Catcher that will graduate in 2012. He has solid defensive skills, quick feet, and he blocks and receives well. Eric has soft hands, he holds a low target, is quick to his knees when blocking. He deadens the ball softly on his chest and has good footwork when throwing to his target. Eric's pop times range from 1.9 to 2.04. Solid defensive grades can improve if Eric can anticipate the balls in the dirt better, and quicken his exchange a bit. At the plate, Eric attacks the ball aggressively and swings with good bat speed. He has a good load, he stays inside the ball, and he can hit to all fields. Eric has a short stroke and if he can widen his base and center the ball up better, we could see a spike in offensive numbers.
Kelly, Carson | 3B/RHP | 6'1/180 | Westview (OR) HS
Carson is a strong, long, loose, athlete with good skills at 3B and on the mound. Defensively, Carson moves well laterally, has soft / playable hands, and he fields the ball cleanly. He is best suited for 3rd base, with his strong / accurate arm across the diamond. Defensive abilities can get even better if Carson can lighten his feet and take better angles to the ball. On the mound, Carson has a fastball that touches 88 MPH, that he delivers on a slight downward plane. He has good direction toward the plate, nice front side lead, and he aggressively attacks hitters. Carson has solid off-speed pitches and he is able to maintain his velocity from the strength position. Improved overall command will help Carson's game reach the next level. At the plate, Carson attacks the ball aggressively and has good bat speed. He gets to a good launch position, he centers the ball well, and the ball jumps off of his bat. Carson has pop in his bat to the pull side, and if he can shorten his stroke and work the ball to all fields, solid offensive grades can get even better.
Scaggari, Cody | SS | 5'7/150 | Piedra Vista (NM) HS
Cody is a young, small, quick, SS that will graduate in 2012. Defensively, he has quick feet, soft / playable hands, and a good idea. Cody fields the ball cleanly, in a low position, and he works through it well. He has a strong arm, and throws accurately across the diamond. At the plate, Cody has a balanced approach and solid bat speed. He gets good extension to and through the ball, and has power into the gaps. If Cody can loosen his grip on the bat, and avoid over-rotating, offensive tool grades can get even better. Overall, Cody is a young, talented player to keep your eye on.
