Top Underclassmen

Cecchini, Gavin | SS/2B | 6’1/180 | Barbe (LA) HS | 2012
Gavin is a young, high waisted, athletic SS with a super bright future.  He has quick feet, soft / sure hands, and clean actions.  Cechini works around the ball well, fields it out in front, and he plays through well.  He already has a Pro arm that is strong and accurate to his target.  Gavin will be an impact player at the next level.

Davis, Kevin | 3B/RHP | 6’0/170 | T.R. Miller (AL) HS | 2013
Kevin is a young, solid athlete with a complete set of skills.  He can get it done on the mound, in the INF, and at the plate.  Davis has an outstanding fast ball that already touches 89 MPH.  He has a live / quick arm, excellent mound presence, and quality off-speed pitches that will only get better.  Davis has a big upside, plus body, and a great arm.  In the INF, Kevin has very active feet, playable hands, and he attacks the ball aggressively.  He is a young player who has very good potential.  Kevin has a effortless arm action with life and carry to his target.  Increased range will only help already solid skills become even better.  Offensively, Kevin has good balance, quick hands, and good pop.  He has a proper load, good feel for pull-side, and we can only expect hitting to continue to improve.  Kevin Davis is already a complete 2-way player and will graduate in 2013.

Dean, Dakota | 2B/SS | 6’1/185 | Crestview (FL) HS | 2013
Dakota is a young, fast, SS with an athletic build.  He ran a 6.81 60 at the event and shows all the tools to be an impact player at the next level.  For only being a 2013 grad, Dakota already has a complete game in the INF.  Dean has quick / active feet, athletic actions, and very playable hands.  He has a strong / accurate arm, with carry across the diamond.  At the plate, Dakota has a balanced approach, plus bat speed, and strong hands.  His swing is level, the ball jumps of the barrel of his bat, and he can get down the line quickly from the left side.  Dakota Dean is a talented, young player to keep your eye on.

Gentry, Myles | RHP | 6’0/180 | Gulf Port (MS) HS | 2012
Myles showed a great fast ball at the event ranging from 84 to 88 MPH.  He is a young, athletic, RHP with a great upside on the mound.  Myles has a live / loose arm action, he works in good rhythm, and he uses both sides of the plate.  Gentry has sound mechanics, he fields his position very well, and he has excellent mound presence.  Myles has a quality change-up that he can throw for strikes, and if he can keep his eyes to his target, and have a more consistent release point with his curve, this young, talented Pitcher can become even better.

Homer, Tyler | C | 5’10/170 | Winter Park (FL) HS | 2012
Tyler is strong, compact, Junior Catcher with a bright future.  He has an athletic set-up behind the plate, a firm wrist, and he blocks and receives the ball very well.  Homer has a strong, accurate arm to 2nd base, with pop times ranging from 2.10-2.13.  Tyler is an advanced player for his age, and if he can avoid standing up when throwing, we could see pop times become even lower.  At the plate, Tyler has a quiet approach and excellent bat speed.  He is an aggressive hitter with a short stroke and the ball jumps off his barrel.  Tyler Homer is a talented Catcher that will make an impact at the next level.

Morris, Robbie | C/2B | 5’9/175 | Irmo (SC) HS | 2012
Robbie showed very good skills both behind the plate and offensively at the event.  He is a young, solid, and strong Catcher that runs well for his size.  Robbie was clocked at 7.18 in the 60, and radar velocity as high as 86 MPH.  Defensively, Robbie has quick feet, a solid transfer, and a strong / accurate arm to 2nd base.  His pop times range from 1.92 - 2.08.  Offensively, Morris has a balanced approach, solid set-up, and a level swing.  He has quick hands, an aggressive lower 1/2, and the ball tends to jump off the barrel of the bat.  Morris is definitely a young player to keep on your radar.

Ordonez Jr., Reynaldo | SS | 6’0/160 | Monsignor E Pace (FL) HS | 2012
Reynaldo is a young, athletic, and wiry SS that will graduate in 2012.  He is an exciting player to watch as he is aggressive to the ball, has plus hands, and quick actions.  Ordonez presents his glove well, makes plays look easy, and delivers the ball quickly and accurately to his target.  At the plate, Reynaldo has a solid set-up, quick hands, and is aggressive to the ball.  He has good bat speed, a level swing, and pop in his bat to the pull-side.  Ordonez is a fundamentally sound player with a bright baseball future.

Reynolds, Russell | RHP/OF | 6’3/175 | Parkview Baptist (LA) HS | 2012
Russell is a tall, lanky and loose RHP with a blazing fast ball.  His velocity was clocked as fast as 92 MPH, with a comfort of 87-88.  He uses a great frame to throws on a good, downhill plane.  Russell has a live, plus arm, and he attacks hitters.  Reynolds has excellent mound presence, he can work both sides of the plate, and has a quality curve ball with 11-5 shape.  Russell is a draft-type player with a bright future on the mound.

Seibert, Mac | C/3B | 6’0/175 | Tate (FL) HS | 2012
Mac is a young, thin, athletic 3rd baseman with good instincts and play skills.  In the INF, Mac has sure hands, he fields from the right, and he gathers himself well.  Seibert fields the ball fluidly and delivers it accurately with some carry across the diamond.  Defensive abilities can improve with looser actions and by getting rid of the ball quicker.  Offensively, Mac has free hands and a rhythmic swing.  He has a simple / balanced approach, short stroke, and he can spray the ball to all fields.  Seibert has the ability to be a solid player at the next level as he continue to grow and mature.

White, Mikey | SS | 6’0/180 | Spain Park (AL) HS | 2012
Mikey is a young, small, athletic, SS with a nice set of baseball skills.  He is a slick fielder with good, athletic actions.  White moves well laterally, has aggressive footwork, and sure / soft hands.  Mikey has solid defensive skills, and currently his arm plays better at the 2nd base position.  At the plate, White has quick hands and a level swing.  He transfers his weight properly, has good bat speed, and he can center the ball up well on the barrel.  If Mikey can get more lower 1/2 involved in his swing, we could see a spike in offensive numbers as he continues to grow and mature.
