Sean Bignall | OF/C | R/R | 5'10/175 | St. Augustine (ONT), 2008
Sean is a little athletic player with above average speed and range in the OF. Will get to most balls anywhere he plays. Gets great jumps and takes excellent angles to approaching ground and fly balls. Gets rid of the ball quickly and throws are accurate. At the plate, Sean has a quick swing and creates a lot of hard ground balls and line drives. Above average instincts on the basepaths. Sean is a terrific athlete and has very sound overall mechanics…knows the game.
John Cervantes | OF | R/R | 6-2/190 | Treasure Coast (FL) HS, 2008
Cervantes has a high waist on a long, well proportioned frame – a good looking body with potential for added future strength. Showed a fair outfield arm and a solid run stride. Looks like he will develop physically and move to a corner outfield spot. While his offensive potential was apparent, his present hitting approach does little to allow it to be usable. He set his hands low and tight to his body, and never got them back and loaded prior to starting to contact. As a result, he pushed the barrel to contact and was unable to generate much bat speed or consistently get the bat head out front. He is a projection guy right now, with several indicators of future potential as noted above. He should get more physical as he matures, and has room to improve his hitting mechanics and approach. Keep a close eye on this outfielder.
Brandon Hagan | OF/LHP | L/L | 6-3/175 | Jupiter (FL) HS, 2009
Hagan has a long, lean frame without much present strength. While his primary value appears to be as a position player, he has two-way potential. His left handed stroke was simple, loose and easy. He held his balance we from prep through finish, allowing him to consistently deliver the barrel to contact. Though I did not record any running times, his actions in general were athletic and fluid – making at worst an more than adequate runner. On the mound, he showed a feel to pitch with his three pitch mix. He moved his 78-81 mph fastball in and out, and his ability to use his 68 mph curve was better than the action itself. His turned over his change well, mostly running it away from right handers. His arm action was a little stiff, especially in his wrist, and his delivery was a little robotic. While I do not see a whole lot of upside on the mound, I see quite a bit of upside with the bat.
Kenny Hollins | OF | R/R | Miami (FL) 2009
Kenny is a strong well-built athlete with tremendous athleticism. He plays all three outfield positions and has the range to do so. Defensively shows excellent footwork and has the ability to get rid of the ball quickly. Throws are accurate and online. At the plate, Kenny has incredible patience. Swings are level and compact. Drives the ball to both gaps with strong hands and quick wrists. Mechanics in the field and at the plate are extremely sound. Overall, Kenny's athleticism will take him to the next level.
Shane McCain | OF/LHP | L/L | 5'11/185 | John Carol (FL) 2009
Shane is an athlete plain and simple. Mechanics on the mound are extremely smooth as is arm action. CH is extremely effective and deceptive. Shows great range in the OF and the ability to throw out runners with an above average arm and great accuracy. Gets rid of the ball quickly and utilizes his entire body to throw. At the plate, Shane has a nice level compact swing. Keeps weight back and can drive the ball to the opposite field. Shane is a nice looking college prospect.
Shaun Valeriote | OF | R/R | 6/180 | Bishop MacDonnell (ONT) 2008
Shaun is a strong player with a lot of power at the plate. Patience and knowledge of the strike zone is above average. Shows the ability to wait for his pitch. Rotates his lower half well and extends nicely through the zone. Defensively, Shaun shows a strong accurate arm and the ability to play through the ball. He should be able to impress some coaches during his senior campaign.
